# Winter car storage

A summer car, a convertible or a second car does not need to sit in the snow for five months. Tell us the car, the city and how much protection you want, and we find a spot with room for it this winter.

## Four levels of protection

- [Heated or climate-controlled](https://car-storage.ca/storage/heated-car-storage/): Kept above freezing, with less condensation. For classics, exotics and cars you care most about.
- [Indoor, unheated](https://car-storage.ca/storage/indoor-car-storage/): Out of the snow, salt and sun in a closed building. Enough for most modern cars.
- [Covered parking](https://car-storage.ca/storage/covered-car-storage/): A roof over the car, open sides. Keeps snow off, not the cold.
- [Outdoor spot](https://car-storage.ca/storage/outdoor-car-storage/): A fenced lot, usually with a cover on the car. The lowest price.

## What winter storage costs

Monthly rates are the lowest city rate. Winter packages bundle the season, usually with battery care and a spring check.

- [Heated or climate-controlled indoor](https://car-storage.ca/storage/heated-car-storage/): from $150/month
- [Indoor storage, unheated](https://car-storage.ca/storage/indoor-car-storage/): from $110/month
- [Covered parking](https://car-storage.ca/storage/covered-car-storage/): from $90/month
- [Outdoor parking spot](https://car-storage.ca/storage/outdoor-car-storage/): from $65/month
- [Winter package, indoor, November to April](https://car-storage.ca/pricing/): from $700 per winter
- [Battery tender while stored](https://car-storage.ca/services/car-storage-preparation/): from $20/month
- [Flatbed pickup or delivery, local](https://car-storage.ca/services/car-pickup-and-delivery/): from $120 one way

Starting prices in CAD before tax, from published storage rates and market estimates, October 2026. The facility, your car and the dates set the final price.

## What to settle before you book

- Dates: Most winter terms run November to April. Some facilities sell a fixed season, others month to month. A fixed season is often cheaper per month.
- Battery: Five months without driving will flatten most batteries. Ask whether there is power for a battery tender, or plan to take the battery home. See [storage preparation](https://car-storage.ca/services/car-storage-preparation/).
- Insurance: Many facilities ask for comprehensive coverage while the car is stored. Some provinces let you drop road coverage. See [insurance while stored](https://car-storage.ca/guides/car-insurance-while-in-storage/).
- Access: Can you visit the car in February? Some buildings allow it by appointment, some not at all until spring.
- Getting it there: Drive it in before the first salt, or ask for [pickup](https://car-storage.ca/services/car-pickup-and-delivery/). A flatbed suits low, classic or non-running cars.

## How a request works

- Send the car details: Make and model, city, dates, the kind of storage and any extras.
- We check what is open: Indoor buildings, garages and lots near you with space for the season.
- You get options by email: Location, storage type, what is included and the price.
- You choose: Book the one you like, or ask for more. No obligation.

## Winter storage questions

**When should I book winter car storage?**

September or October. Indoor and heated space near big cities fills by the first snow. Later requests usually find outdoor or covered space, sometimes farther out.

**Should I store my car outside for the winter?**

It works with a good cover, a full tank, a battery plan and a fenced lot. Indoor storage avoids snow, salt dust and rodents. See [storing a car outside in winter](https://car-storage.ca/guides/storing-a-car-outside-in-winter/).

**What should I do to the car before storage?**

Wash off the salt, fill the tank with stabilizer, set the tire pressure, deal with the battery and block rodent entry points. Full list in the [winter storage checklist](https://car-storage.ca/guides/how-to-store-a-car-for-winter/).

**Can I leave the car on my street instead?**

In most cities, not for a whole winter. Overnight bans, snow clearing and time limits apply. See [street rules by city](https://car-storage.ca/guides/can-i-leave-my-car-on-the-street-in-winter/).
